September 18, 2000 |
To help avoid potential serious accidents or fatalities, AEDARSA would like to remind all passenger ropeway owners and operators of the importance of correct lock out procedures.
The CSA Z98-96 code section 8.19 Maintenance Safety Procedures addresses Written Safety Procedures and Lock out Procedures. All personnel involved in the maintenance and operation of passenger ropeways must be adequately trained in all aspects of lockout procedures.
During the safety inspections of the 2000-2001 season, AEDARSA will be checking to ensure lockout procedures are posted and being followed.
Further AEDARSA would like to recommend the following safety procedure. Signage is posted at all areas where personnel may access bullwheels. This signage could read but not be limited to WARNING BEFORE PROCEEDING ONTO BULLWHEEL ENSURE LOCKOUT IS IN PLACE.
