Interpretation
1 For the purposes of the Act and this Regulation, a passenger conveyor is designated as an elevating device.

Declaration of Standard in force
2 CSA Standard Z98-07, Passenger Ropeways and Passenger Conveyors is declared in force in respect of passenger ropeways and passenger conveyors.

Variations
3 Despite any note or other text in CSA Standard Z98-07, Passenger Ropeways and Passenger Conveyors, the Standard is varied by declaring Annexes A, C, D, E, F, G, H, J and K and any references to those annexes in the Standard as mandatory.

Paramountcy
4 If there is a conflict between CSA Standard Z98-07, Passenger Ropeways and Passenger Conveyors as declared in force in this Regulation and the Elevating Devices, Passenger Ropeways and Amusement Rides Permit Regulation (AR 286/2002), that Regulation prevails over the Standard.

5 CSA Standard Z98-07, Passenger Ropeways and Passenger Conveyors and any codes or standards referenced in the Standard, do not make or imply any assurance or guarantee by the Crown in right of Alberta with respect to the life expectancy, durability or operating performance of equipment or materials referenced in the Standard or codes or standards referenced in the Standard.

Repeal
6 The Passenger Ropeways Standards Regulation (AR 3/2002) is repealed.

Expiry
7 For the purpose of ensuring that this Regulation is reviewed for ongoing relevancy and necessity, with the option that it may be repassed in its present or an amended form following a review, this Regulation expires on February 28, 2016.

Coming into force
8 This Regulation comes into force on December 1, 2008.
